Will My Economic Stimulus Rebate Be Taxed?

On February 13, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 went into effect. This act provides tax rebates to Americans in order to stimulate the U.S. economy. The IRS will begin mailing these rebate checks starting in May and in order to be eligible, an American must have earned at least $3,000 of taxable income in 2007, file a tax return for 2007, and have a valid Social Security Number. Even Ohioans who are not usually required to file a tax return must file a 2007 tax return in order to be eligible to receive a stimulus rebate.

OHFA’S Ohio Heroes program targets educators, military personnel and first responders

COLUMBUS — Ohio’s everyday heroes now can receive a lower rate through the Ohio Housing Finance Agency’s (OHFA) First-Time Homebuyer Program. Ohio Heroes offers a 30-year fixed mortgage to first-time homebuyers who are active military personnel or military veterans, firefighters or emergency medial technicians-paramedics, healthcare workers, police officers or teachers.

Brown Warns Seniors: To Receive Economic Stimulus Check, You Must File Tax Return

Seniors, Who Traditionally Don't File Taxes Due To Lack Of Income, Need To File Taxes This Year To Receive Tax Rebate

Brooklyn, Ohio – With economic stimulus rebate checks scheduled to be mailed beginning in May, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today at the Brooklyn Senior Center alerted Ohio seniors and veterans about the need to file tax returns in order to receive the rebate checks to which they are entitled. Many seniors and veterans who receive social security checks, or other retirement benefits, are not normally required to file a tax return. The rebate checks are part of the economic stimulus package that passed the Senate earlier this month.

America Saves Week - Part Four

It is the last weekday of America Saves Week and I’m so excited. This morning I read an article that claimed with the downturn in the economy, saving had become the “in” thing. Thank goodness, it’s about time.

My husband and I would need a mediator before we’d agree on the best ways to save money on car expenses and gasoline. Fortunately, he has no say in what goes into my tips so here I go with my favorite and sometimes offbeat ways to save on gasoline.
